Courage

Courage is the will to stand up and fight for not only those that are important to you; but the will to stand up for yourself. Courage is the will to do things that no one else is capable or interested in doing. Courage is shown by people all around the world, it is shown through the decisions of some whether the decisions are small or large. Courage is the sudden feel of adrenaline inside when you make a decision that no one else will. Courage takes the form in many different people whether it's a small boy standing up to a bully or a firefighter running towards the burning building. Courage has one enemy and that is doubt, those who doubt people's sense of courage, and pride to do the things they want or need to do. Courage has a mentor, and that mentor is the reason for people to take on the burden of what they face. It's the burning building or the name calling or even the enemy attacking your homeland that will mentor the courageous to stand up and take a stand. That is what courage really is.

True Identity

In the beginning,
Others tainted my identity.
They perceived me for what
I looked like.
You see, it was obvious People
Didn't know my
True Identity.
For it's who you are
On the inside.
I am the only messenger
Of my
Real identity

Darnay

Charles Darney is an important character throughout the book A tale of two cities by Charles Dickens. Charles Darnay has many important traits also; some of his traits include loving, smart, and just. He is very loving becuase he has loved Lucie ever since they met for the first time. This qoute shows his expression of his love, "Dear Doctor manette I love your daughter fondly, dearly, her(dickens 101);" Darney says this to Dr. Manette to show him, his love for Lucie and to ask for approval to date her and Manette gives him his blessing. Darney is also very smart, he becomes a teacher in England; he teaches French. Darney is also very just. He is put to trial, and the sentence is death, but he tells the truth the whole time and is determined to be freed, and he is not sentenced and freed, with the knowledge that he was just and truthful. These are only some of the traits of Charles Darney.

Light VS. Darkness

Dickens used light and darkness to set the tone for lucid and dr. Manette's relationship in many ways. The first way dickens sets this tone is when he writes "darkness had fallen on him in its place (dickens 32);" this means that dr. Manette has been locked away for 18 years and has lost focus and a little Memory, what dickens is saying is that anyone locked away that long should have those symptoms. The second example is when he writes " you can bear are a little more light (dickens 36);" he writes this because he is telling Dr. Monette that he needs to remember the past and he needs to lighten up. The final example is when dickens writes " laying the palest shadow of a stress on the second word (dickens 30);" in this quote Dickens is explaining how Dr. Manette puts a sad emphasis on the word he is speaking. This is how Dicken sets the tone for their conversation using light and darkness.

"Wine Shop"

Charles dickens uses foreshadowing throughout the novel, A tale of two cities; when the wine is spilt onto the street it signifies the blood that is going to be shed in the French Revolution, a qoute from his novel states "scrawled upon a wall with his fingers dipped in muddy wine-less BLOOD(dickens22)." Another thing that dickens foreshadows in his chapter the wine shop is that the citizens will rise together in the name of freedom and equality shown in this qoute "which led especially of healths, shaking hands, and even the joining of hands and dancing(dickens 21)." These quotes signify the upcoming revolution and how the public is ready to rise up together. The final qoute shows how aweful the living conditions forced upon the citizens of France while the wealthy live in peace;"  Others men and women, dipped their handkerchiefs in the wine and squeezed it dry into infants mouths just so the child had liquids in its body(dickens21)." That is how Charles dickens foreshadows in his novel A tale of two cities.

What's this importance of family?

What's the Importance of family; why this question has numerous answers that it's almost impossible to count.

Family is everything in life, it's the people and friends you stay in connection with for the rest of your life. For the fact that family is not always blood; it is who you consider a person you can trust, talk to, and love. Family is the people who care for you in hard times, they are the people who encourage you to reach your goals, they are the people who show you what is right and what is wrong. They are the people you grow up beside, and die beside. They are the ones who never leave you; they are the ones who have the same personality towards you no matter what occurs. They are the shoulder to cry on, they are the people who help whenever you need it. That's my view on family.

Family is discussed thought both "Stone Soup" by Barbara kingsolver and "A tree grows in Brooklyn" by Betty Smith. In "Stone Soup" kingsolver discussed her childhood and her children's childhood. In her childhood her parents loved each other very much and lived happily, but when her children grew up, she ended up getting divorced to her husband, and he daughter says "the only time I feel uncomfortable is when people say they feel sorry for me." kingsolver is very true in her writing when she talks about the boy who's at his soccer game and both his mom and dad who are divorced, are cheering for him; as a child of divorce myself this feeling is one of the greatest in the world when you see that both your mom and dad can be together and watch something and feel happy, it's just an amazing feeling. Being a divorced family doesn't mean you still aren't family, for family is the people that love and care for you.

In "A tree grows in Brooklyn," by Betty smith, you see the development of this young poor girl who has a younger brother, a father and a mother. You see her grow up along side these people and they grow to be an amazing family. Family is displayed when they are at the doctors and the doctors say they are "dirty" and that "they're mother should clean them for once," the young girl becomes furious and says "my brothers arm is as dirty as mine, so don't be surprised; she tells the doctors basically that they can be whatever they want to be, dirty, or clean they are still people and family. She also talks about family when her dad and her are walking to the trolley car and all the girls look at her dad with a smile, but her dad doesn't leave her becuase he loves them and they are family.

In conclusion, family is something that everyone should live to become and should cherish in life becuase everything eventually ends, a life, a friendship, so enjoy every moment possible with your family.

Sacredness of the ordinary

In life I have heard many people say," one mans trash is another mans treasure." This is true in so many ways, for instance someone could look at an item and see it as a relic, but others could look at it and see it as something that belongs in the garbage.

There are also many sides to this saying, some sad, and some inspiring. Such as, a man has a ring that is very old and some would just throw it out because it is old and dirty, but they don't know the story behind it; it could be his fathers ring who passed away or his grandfathers; so people shouldn't judge something without knowing the story behind it. Another example is a rich families son has a winter jacket that is old , so he throws it out, but the man down the street who barely makes it to tomorrow and lives on the streets would cherish that jacket because it gives him a sense of security, shelter ,and warmth.

Some of you may look at this boat and say,"it's just a toy boat," sure it may look like just a toy, but there's a story behind everything and this boat has a story. This boat was built by my father and given to me when I was 4 years old; I have kept it ever since for numerous reasons, including the mystery, the memories, and the adventure behind it.

There's so much mystery behind this boat than a person could imagine. For instance what lies inside the cabin in the back of the ship or what the crew looked like or what the cannons where fired at. The adventure was endless with this boat as well, because this boat could be or do whatever; whether it was a pirate ship in the Caribbean, a British naval warship during the revolutionary war or just a shipper for a sail off the coast of Boston, the possibilities were endless. To you its just a boat to me it's a lifetime of memories, adventure, and mystery.
